A puck built for Apple Watch will not charge a Galaxy Watch, and vice versa. The module decides the family, and the family decides the box.
One family per module
Watch charging uses a magnetic puck with a coil matched to the watch, and the communication between puck and watch is family specific. That is why a single puck is a one family product, and why the same housing can be sold as different SKUs with different modules inside.
If a programme needs two families, it needs two modules, which is a duo stand or two SKUs.
Cable, plug and travel
A fixed cable saves a connector and dates the product when the plug standard changes. A detachable USB-C cable costs a connector and lets the buyer use the cable they already carry. For travel retail the detachable version usually wins.

The compatibility line
The box line should name models, not brands. A line that says Apple Watch and is tested on the newest model is defensible. A line that lists five brands and is tested on one is a returns problem waiting for the first review.
