A bedside product is used in the dark, at an angle, by someone half asleep. The drop test that matters is a watch dropped from 20 cm, not a phone placed carefully.
Two devices, one socket
The reason a duo sells is the socket, not the charger. A nightstand has one free outlet and two devices that charge overnight, and a stand that takes both replaces two cables with one.
That also sets the power budget: the input has to carry the phone coil and the watch module at the same time, and a cheap adapter will split the difference and slow both.
Which phone coil
A Qi2 15W coil is the right choice for a bedside stand. It aligns in the dark, it does not need a cable, and 15W overnight is more than enough. A 25W coil adds cost and heat for a use case that does not need either.
- The watch sits in a cradle that guides it onto the puck.
- The phone arm holds a large phone at a readable angle.
- The cable exits the back, not the side facing the bed.
The hotel version
Hotels buy duos with a fixed cable and a housing that cannot be opened, because the guest takes the cable and the housekeeper unplugs the stand. Ask for the fixed cable version and the strain relief drawing before quoting a hotel programme.
Before the order
