Wireless charging PCBA: Qi2 modules for OEM builds
A module for a team that is building a charger into its own product: controller, coil, shielding and foreign object detection, specified around your enclosure rather than around ours.

The Qi2 module
One build covers 15W and 25W, with the coil and the layout set by your enclosure.
Module options
The controller sets the profile. The coil and the shielding are set by the space you have.
| Option | Profile | Output | Integration effort | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15W module | Qi2 | 15 W | Low: coil and shield on a flat plane | Chargers, stands, furniture, car parts |
| 25W module | Qi2.2 | 25 W | Higher: heat path and a larger power stage | Premium desks, audio, automotive |
A module is certified as part of a finished product. Change the enclosure, the coil distance or the shielding and the product needs testing again, which is a cost the integration plan should carry.
What ships with a module
A Qi2 module is a controller, a coil, a shield and the thermal interface between them. Foreign object detection is in the controller, but its behaviour depends on the coil and the enclosure, so the detection test is part of the integration, not of the module datasheet.
The interface is usually a small header for power and a data line for status. What the module cannot absorb is a design change to the coil distance: move the coil 2 mm and the coupling changes, the detection threshold changes, and the product has to be tested again.
- Controller
- Qi2 or Qi2.2, profile fixed by model
- Coil
- Single layer, sized to the enclosure
- Shield
- Ferrite and, where needed, a metal back
- FOD
- Foreign object detection, tuned for the assembly
- Interface
- Power in, status out, connector per drawing
Four questions a module brief should answer
Send these and the reply is a drawing and a sample, not a catalogue page.
- Enclosure: material, wall thickness and the gap between coil and phone.
- Power in: USB-C PD or a fixed supply, and the voltage available.
- Heat: what the module can touch, and how the product gets rid of the loss at 25W.
- Volume: the annual quantity, because coil tooling and test fixtures are quoted against it.
The cheapest integration is the one designed around the coil from the start. A coil retrofitted into an existing product is a new product with the same name.
Before the order
Three items that belong in the integration plan, not in the purchase order.
- Coil distance: fixed per drawing, with a tolerance the factory can hold.
- Thermal path: what the shield touches, and the temperature the enclosure allows.
- Re-testing: who pays for the certification of the finished product.
- Profiles
- Qi2 15W, Qi2.2 25W
- Coil
- Custom to the enclosure
- MOQ
- 1,000 modules per variant
- Ask for
- Drawing, FOD test, sample lead time
Send the device list, get a written configuration.
Phone models, quantities and destination market is enough. The reply is a build, a specification sheet and the certificate list for each line item.
